    Pre-Production Artistic Rendering
A rendering is illustrated based on our discussions, ideas, videos, photos and emailed to you for approval along with pricing. The non-refundable fee is $250 and applies towards the final price of your custom urn. Turnaround time is 2-8 weeks. We encourage our clients to book renderings early as possible as we stay booked.

    The Final Piece
Once the pre-production rendering has been approved and payment has been made in full then production will continue with the final piece. Turnaround on the final piece is 3-8 weeks depending on our bookings.

  • LET’S GET STARTED:
  • What is my involvement? [ + ]
Your involvement is very important at the beginning, middle and end. At the beginning, share with me your stories and photos. Before any implementation occurs, I will submit a pre-production artistic rendering for your approval, it’s important for you to review every aspect of the art work. This is your chance to approve or make changes. Ask questions if you are not sure of something. Once I have your approval and production continues with the final piece, no changes can be made. And lastly, I would love to hear back from you once you have received your original work of art memorializing your pets life.
  • How do you customize the urn? [ + ]
Your stories and photos are my inspiration to create an original work of art. I encourage you to think of where the piece will be placed, is there a certain style or colour(s) you want me to use? Or perhaps you want to challenge me with the opportunity to have total “creative freedom”?
  • What is a Pre-production Artistic Rendering? [ + ]
A pre-production artistic rendering is a coloured sketch of what your work of art will look like on paper. Often times, it includes glaze colour chips to assist in colour should specific colours be requested for design or pet coat markings. I do not offer original works of art without a pre-production rendering for approval. Once I have your approval, I will begin the process of making your original work of art memorializing your pets life.
  • And how long does it take to get my pre-production artistic rendering? [ + ]
Renderings can take 2-8 weeks depending on my advance bookings.
  • What if I want to add something new or change my
    pre-production artistic rendering? [ + ]
After the first rendering has been submitted, you can add or change something for an additional hourly cost.
  • Does my $250.00 rendering fee go towards the purchase of my original work of art? [ + ]
Yes, your $250.00 rendering fee applies towards the final price of your custom urn.
  • Will the piece I order look exactly like the approved rendering? [ + ]

Similar but not exact. There are always minor variations in colour and design. These variations are the hallmark of original works of art. I would like to point out that the colour in the renderings, using markers, may vary from the ceramic glazes I use as well as not all computer monitors are calibrated to the same standard, so the product you receive may vary slightly in colour from the photo on your monitor.

I would also like to mention, a rendering would include glaze colour chips to assist should specific colours be requested for design or pet coat markings. I do not offer original works of art without a rendering for approval.

  • How long does it take to make my urn? [ + ]
Turnaround on the final piece is 3-8 weeks depending on our bookings.
  • How do your original works of art prices work? [ + ]
Original works start at $750.00. Pricing is based on level of detail, difficulty, materials and client requests. When I provide you with a pre-production artistic rendering I include the total cost to create your original work of art.
  • I saw an original work of art and would like my urn to be exactly like it – is this possible? [ + ]
While I am pleased you would like one exactly like one I have completed for another beloved pet – I respect the original piece and its meaning to my clients therefore, I will not make one exactly the same, however, this is a good starting point to pull elements from it and make one special and unique just for you.
  • SEALING YOUR PIECE:
  • How do I get my pets remains inside the piece? [ + ]
Your pet’s remains should come in a plastic or velvet bag. My advice to you is to place the whole bag carefully in the memorial. Should your memorial break, the remains will be kept in tact in the bag. If you are not comfortable transferring your pets remains, I encourage you to ask your crematorium to assist you.
  • How do I seal my custom piece? [ + ]
I will provide a small gel sealing glue for you to use. Make sure the area you are gluing is clean and dry. Gently squeeze tube applying 1-3 small drops where you want the parts to be sealed, join the parts and press down carefully for 30 seconds. Allow setting for 24 hours.
  • MEMORIAL SIZES:
  • How big are the memorials? [ + ]
The memorials range from 4” box urn to an 18” apothecary urn; each urn holds an approximate capacity ranging from 2lbs up to 200lbs (live weight).
  • How do I choose what memorial size? [ + ]
From my experience with clients, some choose based on the live weight of the pet and what the pets remains will fit in and others choose based on the shape they like best. It’s up to you!
  • SHIPPING:
  • What are your shipping times? [ + ]
I ship either USPS or UPS. Shipping times can range from 2-7 business days.
  • What are your shipping charges? [ + ]
Shipping charges are based on the shape/weight of an original work of art. They range from $20.00 to $50.00 for domestic shipping in the 48 contiguous states. Shipping charges for Hawaii, Alaska, and APO/FPO would be additional and will be determined after I know the shape/weight and address.
  • Do you ship international? [ + ]
Yes, I do ship international. USPS or UPS. A cost estimate will be determined after I know the shape/weight and the international address.
  • Does your shipping include insurance if the urn breaks en route? [ + ]
    Yes, it does include insurance.
  • My piece was damaged in shipping, what do I do? [ + ]
All merchandise is packed carefully and correctly utilizing a detailed quality control check method before they leave my studio. Please keep all shipping cartons and packing material for carrier inspection. Call or email me so I can report the damaged piece and file a claim within 2 working days of receiving receipt. Should anything be altered or thrown out the chances of a refund from the carrier are slim as well as the opportunity for me to replace the piece. While replacing a piece means making a new one – additional production time may be required. Please note: I do NOT provide a refund but I will be happy to provide a replacement piece as long as the shipping carrier has approved the claim.
  • PAYMENTS & RETURNS:
  • What payment methods do you accept? And when do I pay? [ + ]
I accept Paypal payments only (you may use a credit card through Paypal). I will send a paypal request for the pre-production rendering of $250.00 before I start the rendering and a request for the remaining balance after the rendering has been approved and production continues on the original work of art.
  • What payment methods do you accept from international customers? [ + ]
I accept Paypal payments only (you may use a credit card through Paypal). I will send a paypal request for the pre-production rendering of $250.00 before I start the rendering and a request for the remaining balance after the rendering has been approved and production continues on the original work of art.
  • What is your return policy? [ + ]

Due to the custom and made to order nature of my products, I do not offer refunds. Returns for exchange will only be allowed if the item is defective. Definition of a defective piece includes but is not limited to hairline fractures, the top lid doesn’t fit the bottom (on a memorial piece) or copy has been misspelled. Please keep in mind, these pieces are hand- crafted therefore, minor colour variations in opaqueness or a slight “wobbliness” in it’s standing are hallmarks of a fine hand-crafted piece and do NOT warrant a defective product. Improper use of the sealing glue does not warrant a defective product either. All authorized return works of art must be unused and in its original packaging. No return or exchange on works of art that shows signs of having been used, scratched, or defaced will be allowed.

We reserve the right to refuse your return based on our return policy. No cancellations, refunds, or exchanges on order items will be allowed after the first 24 hours of an order.

Please contact us via e-mail at contactus@alysonwhitney.com to report all defects or returns.
